About Us

The traditional understanding of Alchemy, understands that to heal is to evolve and to evolve is to heal. Healing without evolution - change, growth, and personal development - is like a plant without roots.

Alchemy is a very broad topic. Like 'architecture', it means a lot of things and can be done in many different ways. It is often thought of as the art of transmuting and transforming bare metals to gold. However advanced paths of alchemy teach that is it more about mastery over self and understanding over energies.

Alchemy works with different layers of the body and energy levels - physical, mental, emotional, energetic and spiritual. Through the various natural healing modalities we have to offer, we apply the art of healing to establish foundations of health in a way that is compatible for your individual body.

Through integrating Alchemy’s herbalism, you can work with plants to provide the deepest levels of healing needed during these critical times of change. Rejuvenating the body, clarifying the mind, strengthening the heart, healing through trauma, so you can make the earth a better place.

Amanda’s Journey

IMG_6363.jpg

My journey through medicine has mostly been an evolution of self, a search to serve and an exploration in ways in which to help others heal holistically. This journey started early in my life - from my adolescence years in competitive athletics, to finding my interests in mental health in college, connecting the mind-body and spirit together through years of teaching yoga, studying constitutional medicine, until now – where I am a current medical school student of Naturopathic Medicine.

My soul’s purpose is working towards being a holistic Doctor trained in various arts of traditional healing. Health, to me, is not something to be strived for when one is ill, rather, it should be a lifestyle to maintain health on a daily basis. It is my knowledge that vibrant health occurs when all factors of life (physical, mental, emotional and spiritual) are in harmony. Naturopathy focuses on preventative health and considers all aspects of a person, their environment, diet, and lifestyle factors. It is my passion and mission to help others achieve total health and wellbeing in a holistic and transformational way.

I believe that I have a unique range of experience, knowledge and passionate interests that have lead me on this path of medicine. I attended University of California Santa Barbara on a Track and Field Scholarship. Throughout my years in division one college athletics I came to know what it meant to strive for optimum health. I vigorously worked out on a daily basis, attended to my health and nutrition through diet, herbs and supplements, while making sure I stayed hydrated and got proper amounts of sleep. I saw changes in my body, mental clarity, mood and performance. I was aware and in tune with my body like I never have been before. I used visualization and meditation techniques to help achieve lifetime personal bests and school records.  I found joy working on my performance, health and mental alignment. I knew I wanted to continue down this path and share it with others.

I received my B.S in Bio-Psychology and took interest in brain states, psychopharmacology and behavioral  medicine. I came to learn of the power of the mind, the subconscious and the law of attraction. I was captivated in the ideas of brain states, neuroplasticity, psychotherapy and their connections to our view of ‘reality’. I also become interested in indigenous studies, religious studies and traditional philosophies from around the world. Especially Tibetan and Buddhist thought. It is through the practice of meditation and contemplation of Buddhist ideas, where I believe my life started to transform.

With my major in Biopsychology and my interests in eastern philosophies, I started understanding the importance of considering the mind with the body as one, and how this realization can bring about mental, emotional, and physical changes within. From there I had a growing interest in holistic health and the implications of spirituality and psychology in healing.

Shortly after college, I started teaching yoga and continued learning about Ayurvedic medicine, and traditional plant medicine. Learning about traditional medicine dramatically changed my impressions of what health and healing meant to me. It was from there on out that I realized my path was in natural medicines and holistic modalities. Which has lead me to where I am now, in my fourth year at Naturopathic Medical school at Bastyr University California. I am also pursuing a dual degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, San Diego.

There is a common thread of wholism theories throughout various healing traditions around the world. It is my goal and desire to study therapies and treatments from around the world and incorporate them into my practice. It is this balance within the microcosm of the body and within the macrocosm of the mind-body-soul connection, that I wish to attain for my patients. Vibrant health through transformational healing in all areas of your life. This is preventative, functional medicine and it is our future.
